Magnetic Particle flaw Detector MD-6
The device is used for magnetic particle flaw detection of the following objects:
- pipelines;
- welded joints;
- building reinforcing metal structures;
- separator drums, economizers, combustion screens and other components of boiler plants;
- lifting mechanisms, in particular, construction equipment, elevators;
- details and mechanisms of railway transport.
Device and principle of operation
Magnetic particle flaw detector MD-6 consists of a magnetizing unit, which includes permanent magnets and a hinged magnetic circuit, the task of which is to induce an electromagnetic field in a metal object; magnetizing current meter to control its value; a set of pole pieces; a measuring magnifier for examining the surface of an object; containers for powder or suspension; brushes for powder application and sample MO-3 with a reference defectogram.
The device works as follows: first, either a magnetic powder (dry method) or a suspension (wet method) is applied, with the help of the magnetizing properties of which the magnetic powder flaw detector induces an electromagnetic field in the surface layer of the object under study. As a result of the action of the field, the powder particles acquire a certain ordered structure, forming an indicator pattern consisting of stripes or rollers.
With the help of a magnifying glass, visual control is carried out, the resulting image is compared with the reference one and a conclusion is made about the presence or absence of a defect, as well as its shape and size.
