Capillary Rheometer PVT500

The GÖTTFERT PVT500 is a capillary rheometer accessory for measuring pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) values of polymer melts in accordance with ISO 17744. The device enables both isothermal and isobaric measurements for precise design of molds and simulation of injection molding processes. In isothermal tests, specific volume is determined at constant temperature as a function of pressure. Isobaric measurements keep pressure constant and measure volume during cooling, closely simulating the real production process in injection molding. The PVT500 features an innovative compressed air cooling system achieving temperatures up to 500°C and cooling rates up to 30 K/min, significantly faster and more flexible than conventional thermostats. The system can be operated with an external thermostat for temperatures below room temperature. The device is controlled via LabRheo PC software with fully automatic measurement execution and real-time data monitoring. Results are displayed as PVT diagrams and parameterized with the integrated Tait model, with parameters transferable directly to standard injection molding simulation software. Optional add-ons include thermal conductivity measurement according to ASTM D5930 up to 450°C and 1000 bar.
