Description:
They are used for lowering into a borehole and lifting a rock cutting tool, transmitting rotation, creating an axial load on the tool, supplying flushing fluid or compressed air to the face.
Overview:
There are drill pipes: ordinary, weighted and leading.
- Conventional Drill Pipes - steel or seamless from aluminum alloys of circular cross-section with a wall thickness of 4.75-11 mm, are interconnected using drill locks or half-locks with a special large conical thread. The ends of the Drill Pipes (pipe sbt) thicken to increase their strength.
- Heavy Drill Pipes - steel pipe sbt of round or square cross-section with a wall thickness of 16-50 mm or more, they are also connected by thread and serve to increase the rigidity of the lower compressed part of the string and create a load on the rock cutting tool.
- Leading Drill Pipe sbt - seamless pipes of multifaceted cross-section, is placed at the top of the column and transfers rotation from the rotator of the drilling rig to it.
At the end, the pipe 114 thickens to increase strength, external, internal or combined upsetting.
