Wedge, pinch and gate valve
Devices of this type in structure and appearance practically do not differ from an ordinary valve, with the exception of their locking element. The latter resembles in appearance a wedge or a knife that "cuts" the suspension. Gate valves are widely used in pipelines carrying various viscous liquids, including lubricants, thick product mixtures, heavy oils, etc. The gate valve is of particular importance in the oil industry, where it is indispensable for the safe operation of the well.
The advantages of this type of equipment also include a significant range of standard sizes , which contributes to the effective solution of problems of shutting off the flow of any liquids, including quite viscous ones. In addition, the low cost of the product, ease of installation and further maintenance become an undoubted advantage. If necessary, valves of this type can even perform the function of throttling. Of the shortcomings, only a low response speed can be distinguished. In this case, in the event of failure, the equipment cannot be restored.
