Intensive development of the northern territories is inevitably accompanied by interference in the natural development of the environment. In this case, permafrost soils, even with short-term violations of surface conditions, can change their properties and parameters. This is especially evident with open mining. Linear structures also have a significant impact: roads and railways, trunk pipelines. Soil research in the engineering-geocryological laboratory can help here: the study of the physicomechanical and thermophysical properties of soils, the corrosiveness of soils and water.
Overview:
The Geocryological Engineering Laboratory has special instruments for testing permafrost soils: refrigerators with automatic temperature control with an accuracy of 0.1 degrees, a chamber for cutting and storing monoliths with negative temperature, a sample preparation tool, uniaxial compression device, triaxial compression device, axial device loading of various modifications, a device for freezing samples and other instruments and equipment.
