Diamond Chisels ISM - differ from milling, blade mainly due to the fact that their rock-cutting (working) elements are equipped with superhard Slavutich material. Working elements (inserts from Slavutich) are fixed to the steel body of the bit with their landing (cylindrical) part (shank) by soldering. The shape of the working surface of the inserts, the brand Slavutich, its content (volume in cubic centimeters) in the tool and the number of inserts are selected depending on the type of bit, i.e. in accordance with the physical and mechanical properties of drill rocks. Depending on the size and design of the bit, the ISM are made forged with the subsequent milling of the blades or with welded blades.

Compared to milling and vane bits, ISM bits have higher wear resistance, and compared to bits equipped with natural diamonds, they have lower cost and pistoning, better passability along the wellbore and protection of their rock-cutting elements, therefore they are less likely to fail with insufficiently thorough preparation the barrel and the face before they are lowered into the well.
