Conceptual Design: Early phase of design

Conceptual design phase is the preliminary stage of any new product development project. We will grow design concept(s) from the initial specification/idea and carefully identify the final product’s requirements.

As part of the concept design activity, we will investigate particular aspects of the design, e.g. a particular material performance requirement, feasibility of manufacture, reliability.

Concepts will be presented for your evaluation in form of 3D models. For more complicated projects we can offer animations.

Conceptual design is crucial for deciding whether the idea is worth further development efforts . As a result of conceptual design phase you will get a reliable input for:
Development cost estimate;
Product profitability calculations;
Development plan;
Project risks assessment;
Idea presentation for potential clients/investors.

At the concept development stage the majority of the total development costs is committed. Almost 75% of the manufacturing cost of a typical product is committed by the end of the conceptual phase, meaning that only 25% of a product’s cost can be influenced by decisions made after this time (according to the American Association of Mechanical Engineers).
