Asahi's spiral-edged chisel expanders incorporate the “three in one” concept, in which the matrix contains natural and synthetic diamonds, as well as tungsten carbide inserts. Thanks to this concept, the expander can work effectively in a variety of rocks, from the most abrasive to fine-grained.

The new design solution offers a spiral-shaped placement of flushing channels between diamond-containing pads, while achieving a gradual narrowing from the cutting edge to the lower stage of the expander casing, corresponding to the typical size of the well, and due to the gradual narrowing, the tool service life is increased.

Depending on the application, over-the-head expanders with a spiral cutting edge are available in different series, varying in the degree of wear resistance of the matrix, as well as the grade and concentration of diamond elements
