Tees of pipelines are used in steam and water systems of cold, hot water supply and heating, as well as in oil and gas and chemical industries and in many other sectors of the national economy.
To obtain high-quality products, domestic factories use various methods in the manufacture of tees:
- forging from round bars and sheets with subsequent machining (welding);
- mold casting;
- gas cutting of parts with welding;
- hot stamping of a solid forging with drilling of holes, etc.
Traditionally, depending on the manufacturing method, there are turned, seamless, welded and stamp-welded tees. For the manufacture of stamp-welded connecting elements in accordance with TU 102-488-95, steel grades 20, 09g2s, 12x18n10t are used. They are used in pressure mode up to 2.5 MPa and temperature range from -30 to +300°C.
Welded pipeline tees (with a seam along the neck), according to GOST 17376-2001, are produced from steel grades 20, 09g2s, 12x18n10t. Welded tees with overlays according to TU 51-29-81 are relevant for the regions of the Far North. Seamless tees are produced from steel grades 20, 09g2s, 12x18n10t in accordance with the requirements of GOST 17376-2001. These shaped elements withstand pressure up to 16 MPa and are used at ambient temperatures from -70 to +450°C.
According to the type of fastening, threaded, flanged and welded tees are distinguished. In addition, there are 2 types of tees: equal and transitional. Equal bore tees have the same diameters of all outlets. Reducing tees have different diameters of body and neck openings.
Depending on the ratio of the diameters of the body and the neck, transitional and equal tees are distinguished. Transitional tees are called tees that have different diameters of the through holes of the body and neck. Such tees use pipeline branches of smaller diameter to the longitudinal axis of the main line. Equal bore tees, unlike transitional tees, have the same diameters of the body and neck openings.
