Russian: Russian automatic fire extinguishing system with low-pressure fine water mist (SP TRV ND). The FIRE-FOG® system is designed to protect control posts, living quarters, utility rooms, corridors and ladders, as well as for local (local) protection of main internal combustion engines, diesel generators, incinerators and boiler furnace fronts. Fresh water, supplied to the pipeline under a pressure of no more than 1.6 MPa, is used as a fire extinguishing agent in the system. Water enters the room through sprayers in the form of a fine mist. There are three types of the FIRE-FOG® system: Sprinkler (water spraying for category A machinery spaces). Local application, designed to localize and/or extinguish fires on ships and vessels, floating drilling rigs and fixed-wing platforms under the technical supervision of the RMRS. The system meets the requirements of: Rules for the classification and construction of sea-going vessels of the RMRS; Rules for technical supervision of the construction of ships and the manufacture of materials and products for ships of the RMRS; International Code for Fire Safety Systems; Resolution A.800(19) as amended by IMO res. MSC.265(84)/Corr.l, MSC.284(86); International Convention SOLAS-74; Technical Regulations on the Safety of Marine Transport Facilities; Fire Safety Systems Code (FSSC) The System has a variable configuration. The configuration, completeness and structure of the System are determined jointly with the Customer.

Pump/pumps

Untitled (17).png

The pump/pumps are intended to create and maintain the required pressure of the working environment in the System. For a specific project/object, the System is formed on the basis of one or more pumps. Each pump has a certificate (approval) from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

The pump is made of stainless steel and cast iron. The electric motors of the pumps are 3-phase asynchronous two-pole. The capacity of the System is defined as the sum of the capacities of the pumps included in the System. A backup pump is provided (mandatory for sprinkler SP) in case of failure of any main pump (jamming, insufficient output pressure, etc.) and starts automatically.

In standby mode, fresh water is supplied to the pumps. The quality of the supplied water must meet the requirements of GOST 2874-82, and the pressure must be maintained at a level of 1.0+0.1 MPa ± 5%. Pressure maintenance in standby mode is provided by a low-capacity pump based on signals from pressure sensors included in the System.

In the operating mode, water is supplied to the pumps with a pressure of at least 0.01 MPa at the inlet pipe and with the corresponding capacity. The operating mode or fire extinguishing mode is determined by turning on the main pumps, while the water pressure in the System must be at a level that ensures the minimum operating pressure at the dictating (most remote) sprayer.

Pumps can be started automatically or remotely. Automatic start occurs when the pressure in the System drops below the set threshold value (less than 1.0* MPa).

Automatic start-up of pumps is performed sequentially with a time delay to reduce peak loads on the electrical network and to protect pipelines from water hammer.

Remote start is performed from the system control panel or the control panel (if available) by pressing the corresponding buttons.

System control panel

Untitled (18).png

The system control panel is designed to control the System, including pumps and control units. The PU panel is optional and can be used if necessary. The system control panel is hinged.

Functions of the system control panel:

  • monitoring and control of pumps (consisting of up to 2 main and 1 backup pumps with an operating current of up to 80A (45 kW);
  • control of the water level of the ship's (marine) fire extinguishing tank;
  • seawater tap control
  • issuing information about the current state of the System and its malfunctions to the upper-level ship systems (in accordance with the interface protocol);
  • integration with fire detection system, ship systems;
  • control and monitoring of the status of up to 20 sprinkler/deluge control units;
  • reception and transmission of signals to the control panel;
  • automatic control of the System by automatically opening the deluge control units based on signals from the ship or marine fire alarm system;
  • sending a signal to the warning alarm system.

Upon request, the system control panel can be equipped with an automatic 400V, 230V reserve input.

The system control panel provides the ability to send the following signals about the state of the System to external systems:

  • launch of the System (including indication of the extinguishing zone);
  • the presence of a malfunction (pumps do not work, power supply is interrupted, etc.);
  • no power supply;
  • lack of water (in the water supply system of the pumping unit).

The pump control panel is designed to control only the system pumps.

Functions of the pump control panel:

  • monitoring and control of pumps (up to 2 main and 1 backup pumps with an operating current of up to 80A (45 kW)
  • monitoring the water level of the ship's fire extinguishing tank - monitoring the seawater valve - issuing information about the current state of the System and its malfunctions to the ship's upper-level systems (in accordance with the interface protocol);

The pump control panel provides the ability to send the following signals about the System status to external systems:

  • System launch;
  • the presence of a malfunction (pumps do not work, power supply is interrupted, etc.);
  • no power supply;
  • lack of water (in the water supply system of the pumps).

It is also possible to use a purchased (third-party) pump control panel from another manufacturer that has a certificate (approval) from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

Control panel PU

is designed for remote control of the System from the wheelhouse or control posts. The control unit is mounted.

The control panel is intended for:

- for remote opening of sectional drencher control units;

- for remote starting of pumps;

- to display the current state of the System and its malfunctions, as well as to generate sound signals when situations arise that require the operator’s attention.

It is also possible to use a purchased (third-party) control panel from another manufacturer that has a certificate (approval) from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS).

Sprayers

Untitled (20).png

Sprayers are designed to supply water to the protected premises. Depending on the type of the System, drenchers or sprinklers can be used as sprayers. The type of sprayers used is determined during the design work in accordance with the requirements of the RMRS or special technical conditions developed for the protection of a specific facility. It is also possible to use purchased (third-party) sprayers from another manufacturer that have a certificate (approval) from the RMRS.

Control nodes

Control units are designed to divide the pipeline into controlled pipeline sections.

Control units in general may contain an alarm, a rod position sensor, a pressure gauge (pressure alarm (PA), a manual control handle, and inlet and outlet pipes.

The number and type of control units are determined by the number of sprayers, the type and location of the protected premises, the presence of premises and equipment requiring separate protection.

The deluge control unit (DCU) is designed to separate the System pipelines into independent deluge sections. The DCU can be opened remotely from the control panel and control unit (if available), automatically by signals from external systems, and manually directly on the unit itself. The DCU is closed manually when the pump is stopped. It is also possible to use a purchased (third-party) DCU from another manufacturer that has a certificate/approval from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

The sprinkler control unit (SCU) is designed to divide the System pipelines into isolated sprinkler sections, each of which should have no more than 200 sprinklers. Any sprinkler section should serve no more than two decks and be located only in one main vertical zone. SCU control is manual. If it is necessary to stop spraying (extinguishing) in a section or replace triggered sprinklers, SCU is closed manually, but the Fire Extinguishing System is not turned off, and only its part is isolated.

It is also possible to use a purchased (third-party) UUS from another manufacturer that has a certificate/approval from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

The combined control unit (UCU) is designed to separate the System pipelines into independent sprinkler sections with preliminary activation. The UUK can be opened remotely from the system control panel or control panel, automatically by signals from external systems, and manually directly on the unit itself. It is also possible to use a purchased (third-party) UUK from another manufacturer that has a certificate/approval from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
