The work performed by the Onezhets TDT-55 skidder: The Onezhets TDT-55 replaced the post-Soviet pioneer among skidders - the TDT-40 and was manufactured for 37 years. The purpose of this equipment is to pick up and transport fallen trees with units from logging platforms. The TDT-55 skidder has rightly won the trust and authority of loggers, since its engineers have effectively solved the issue of high efficiency, in combination with a simple design, durability and maintainability in difficult field conditions. Due to its unique properties, this tractor is very often used in geological exploration. The great popularity of the TDT-55 is due to its ease of use, the ability to perform repairs in difficult conditions, and most importantly - the high performance of units and assemblies. Spare parts for the tractor are available and relatively inexpensive. Manufacturers managed to achieve such durability of the design due to the use of the most reliable and high-strength materials and constant work to simplify the mechanisms. Design Features of the TDT-55 The TDT-55 skidder is based on a strong welded box-type frame. In order to preserve the transmission and engine components, specialized hinged sheets are attached to the frame beams and side members at the bottom using bolts. During technological maintenance, it is necessary to periodically clear the frame from debris and wood fragments. The driver's cabin is asymmetrically located on the frame. The driver also acts as an operator of the mounted equipment. The carefully soundproofed cabin has a significant glazing area, which allows you to observe the working space around the skidder. For the convenience of the operator, a fan and a powerful heater are located. Control is deliberately simplified, since the presented equipment is specialized for performing work in hard-to-reach forest areas. For the same reason, the device is designed to have as little electrical equipment as possible. The process is regulated using two levers, with the help of which turns are made and the braking of the unit is performed. Pedals are used: clutch activation and fuel supply. Directly next to the cabin there is a diesel engine, closed with a metal hood. Diesel engines SMD-14N and SMD-18N-01 are used as a power plant. For starting there is a P-10UD unit with a personal reducer. Operator's cabin TDT 55 Taking into account the problems that were present in previous models, the manufacturer has simplified the design of the operator's cabin as much as possible and implemented some additional functions: • the ventilation system was updated for use in the summer; • it became possible to adjust the operator's workplace by height and weight, which makes the work process more convenient; • a special stove began to be installed in the cabin, which provides heating in the winter; • a place was allocated for a first aid kit, thermos and hooks for clothes. Hydraulic system TDT 55 The hydraulic system began to work on the basis of a dual-circuit device with a tank. The system includes: a motion control system that operates using the NSh-10 pump (with 3-section boosters) and pipelines. The first section reduces the force during clutch engagement, and the second and third sections facilitate turns. Due to the high efficiency of this system, all of the above actions can be performed with the fingers of one hand. The NSh-50 pump, pipelines, hydraulic distributor and hydraulic cylinders are used to control the working bodies of the system. The first section is responsible for controlling the bulldozer, and the second for the skidding shield.

The main purpose of the TDT-55 tractor is to transport cargo in dense forests, which implies a number of specific requirements for its weight and size.

  • height (from the bottom of the roller to the roof of the cabin) – 2.56 m;
  • length (including attachments and bucket) – 5.8 m;
  • width (from the outer edge of the rollers) – 2.357 m.

Engine TDT 55

The heart of the TDT-55 tractor is the SMD-14B engine, which was designed and later manufactured at the Hammer and Sickle plant located in Kharkov.

Main technical indicators:

  • number of cylinders: 4 pcs.;
  • maximum power: 62 hp;
  • nominal speed: 1500 rpm;
  • Specific fuel consumption: 160 g/l s. h.

After the modernization, the tractor was equipped with a more powerful engine - SMD-18N, which has the following performance characteristics:

  • number of cylinders: 4 pcs.;
  • maximum power: 100 hp;
  • nominal speed: 1800 rpm;
  • specific fuel consumption: 162 g/l s.h.

Subsequently, work was carried out to increase the engine power to 120-130 hp. However, this decision was quite controversial, since the tractor's productivity remained virtually unchanged due to the specific conditions of its operation. At the same time, fuel consumption increased significantly. The latest tractor models were equipped with D-245 engines.

Gearbox TDT 55

The gearbox is located on the engine flywheel and has the following gears:

  • 5 steps: for moving forward;
  • 1 degree – for moving backwards.

For this unit to function, it must have a sufficient amount of lubricant. The filling volume in this case is 3.5 liters. A distinctive feature of the tractor gearbox is the special mechanism in its design that prevents gear shifting when the clutch is engaged or not fully engaged.

Winch TDT 55

One of the key parts of this type of equipment is the winch, since it is used to perform a whole range of different jobs. The winch is driven by a power take-off shaft.

There are two main types of winches (single- and double-drum), which are installed depending on the tractor modification. The winch is located at the rear wall of the tractor cabin. The drive is carried out through a bevel gearbox of a cylindrical type, control can be carried out directly from the tractor driver's cabin.

Transmission and systems TDT-55

Dry clutch with 2 disks contains hydraulic booster and front brake. 5-speed non-synchronized gearbox is equipped with gear engagement stopper when clutch pedal is not depressed. Cardan drives and rear axle equipped with band brakes. Winch drive transmission with power control shaft. Hydraulic system contains 2 separate circuits and one common tank. Main circuit GS is fed by pump НШ-10 and ensures tractor movement. Working tools and auxiliary mechanism are controlled by 2-nd circuit using pump НШ-50.

The lever-balance suspension of the chassis system uses spring suspension, wheel guides with shock-absorbing and tensioning mechanisms, drive tracks and wheels.

The fuel supply system of the TDT-55 tractor contains the main and spare systems. The main one is used continuously. The additional one is connected in cases when it is necessary to add power if the main system fails. But the capacity of the spare TS is only enough to return to the base at the minimum speed.
