The main purpose of the TDT-55 tractor is to transport cargo in dense forests, which implies a number of specific requirements for its weight and size.
Main overall dimensions and weight characteristics:
- weight: 9.6 t;
- height (from the bottom of the roller to the roof of the cabin) – 2.56 m;
- length (including attachments and bucket) – 5.8 m;
- width (from the outer edge of the rollers) – 2.357 m.
Engine TDT 55
The heart of the TDT-55 tractor is the SMD-14B engine, which was designed and later manufactured at the Hammer and Sickle plant located in Kharkov.
Main technical indicators:
- number of cylinders: 4 pcs.;
- maximum power: 62 hp;
- nominal speed: 1500 rpm;
- Specific fuel consumption: 160 g/l s. h.
After the modernization, the tractor was equipped with a more powerful engine - SMD-18N, which has the following performance characteristics:
- number of cylinders: 4 pcs.;
- maximum power: 100 hp;
- nominal speed: 1800 rpm;
- specific fuel consumption: 162 g/l s.h.
Subsequently, work was carried out to increase the engine power to 120-130 hp. However, this decision was quite controversial, since the tractor's productivity remained virtually unchanged due to the specific conditions of its operation. At the same time, fuel consumption increased significantly. The latest tractor models were equipped with D-245 engines.
Gearbox TDT 55
The gearbox is located on the engine flywheel and has the following gears:
- 5 steps: for moving forward;
- 1 degree – for moving backwards.
For this unit to function, it must have a sufficient amount of lubricant. The filling volume in this case is 3.5 liters. A distinctive feature of the tractor gearbox is the special mechanism in its design that prevents gear shifting when the clutch is engaged or not fully engaged.
Winch TDT 55
One of the key parts of this type of equipment is the winch, since it is used to perform a whole range of different jobs. The winch is driven by a power take-off shaft.
There are two main types of winches (single- and double-drum), which are installed depending on the tractor modification. The winch is located at the rear wall of the tractor cabin. The drive is carried out through a bevel gearbox of a cylindrical type, control can be carried out directly from the tractor driver's cabin.
Transmission and systems TDT-55
Dry clutch with 2 disks contains hydraulic booster and front brake. 5-speed non-synchronized gearbox is equipped with gear engagement stopper when clutch pedal is not depressed. Cardan drives and rear axle equipped with band brakes. Winch drive transmission with power control shaft. Hydraulic system contains 2 separate circuits and one common tank. Main circuit GS is fed by pump НШ-10 and ensures tractor movement. Working tools and auxiliary mechanism are controlled by 2-nd circuit using pump НШ-50.
The lever-balance suspension of the chassis system uses spring suspension, wheel guides with shock-absorbing and tensioning mechanisms, drive tracks and wheels.
The fuel supply system of the TDT-55 tractor contains the main and spare systems. The main one is used continuously. The additional one is connected in cases when it is necessary to add power if the main system fails. But the capacity of the spare TS is only enough to return to the base at the minimum speed.
